Why?

The energy market and energy systems are changing. Sustainably generated electricity and electricity consumption are not simultaneous. Moreover, the user profile of electricity consumption for both businesses and residents is changing due to the energy transition that is in full swing. Electric vehicles, heat pumps, energy storage systems, and other electrical replacements for appliances that previously ran on natural gas or other fossil fuels are gaining a prominent place in the energy system. This is good news, but at the same time, this transition is causing significant peaks in both electricity consumption and generation. And our power grid isn’t ready for that yet. Grid congestion is preventing businesses, organizations, and residential areas or buildings from obtaining optimal power grid connections, or at least not immediately.

The solution

Bigger cables are only part of the solution. Grid operators are working hard on this expansion of the power grid, but that’s not enough. We need to use the available grid smarter and utilize sustainable residual heat to heat and power buildings.

This requires smart configuration and operation of energy assets, such as charging stations, solar panels, batteries, heat pumps and heat and cold storage.
